Projects
We Serve the Community
Glenside Lions Club participates in many projects that may be club-based within our local Glenside area, State-wide, Australia-wide, or International.

Food Drives
Glenside Lions conducts Foodbank drives by collecting donated groceries from community members.

Community BBQs
In partnership with the Spire Community at Hope’s Café and Goodies op-shop, Glenside Lions put on free barbecues for anyone attending the regular visits by Foodbank and Orange Sky mobile laundry.

Lions Recycle for Sight
Used spectacles are collected at the Bookmart for this National Lions Project. They are sorted and sent for grading and redistribution to recipients.

Diabetes
Glenside Lions participate in the “Lap the Map” programme that involves Lions Club members across the country hosting walks and community events to promote healthy lifestyles. These activities raise awareness of the diabetes epidemic across Australia.

Lions Eye Health Program
Members undertake screening across our local community, particularly in schools and community groups.

Health Awareness
Glenside Lions informs and encourages community members to take advantage of free health testing available through a range of pharmacies.

Lions Skin Cancer Screening
Glenside Lions assist with management and administration associated with screening when the Lions Mobile Skin Cancer Clinic bus visits our local area.

Hearing Tests
Glenside Lions partners with Hearing Australia for the provision of free hearing testing of community members.

Leo Club
The Leo Club at the Glenunga International High School was established in 2003 through our sponsorship. A Lions Club Advisor and a School Co-Advisor offer leadership, support, and motivation to the Leo members. The Club meets weekly.

Lions Youth of the Year
This program is a prestigious event for young people, giving them opportunities to experience an interview situation in a friendly atmosphere and a chance to practice their public speaking skills.

Junior Public Speaking
Junior public speaking competitions are local events for children early in their primary school careers.
